Iodine for Proper Brain Development

Did you know almost half of Australian primary school children are Iodine deficient*?

Although a person only needs a teaspoon of Iodine in their whole lifetime, the thyroid gland is unable to store this amount. So small amounts of Iodine must be consumed regularly in our diet for normal mental and physical development.

Iodine was once commonly found in iodised salt and dairy products, but new processing practices have decreased the level of Iodine from our diet. Children who are mildly to moderately Iodine deficient may not reach their full potential at school. So to help address the Iodine gap, MILO B-SMART contains Iron and Iodine for mental development. And just one glass contains 35% of a child’s recommended daily intake of Iodine

Iron for Mental Development

Iron is essential for good development and growth in children. It’s required for normal energy production and for carrying oxygen in the blood. Without it, the brain and working muscles will not receive the oxygen they need. So, it’s easy to see why children need Iron for normal growth and mental development. In fact, inadequate dietary Iron intake in children has been linked with restlessness, poor concentration and irritability. A glass of MILO B-SMART contains 50% of your child’s recommended dietary intake of Iron as well as Vitamin C to aid with Iron absorption

Protomalt for Physical Activities

A mixed source of energy, PROTOMALT provides the carbohydrates necessary to fuel active kids.

In addition to glucose and other simple sugars, up to 50% of the carbohydrates in PROTOMALT are in the form of oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. That means PROTOMALT malt extract is more complex than other carbohydrate sources such as refined sugars.
